Hi all,
I havent posted on this site for a couple of years but its just like fitting into an old suit....sort of.
My question is this.
I am budgetting for my next film and find that pro light is too expensive. I found that Stage Lighting cans are only around ?30 each. Are these any good for using in a DV film? Has anyone used these in their films? Or should I go for a couple of hired redheads?
Also how is everyone on here? What happend to Chance and KathyS?

I use par cans a lot in lighting. They are very handy for lighting buildings etc. when you need a long throw. But they're not very versatile. Even with a layer of diffusion over them you still get a pretty intense beam. Most of the time when you are lighting people you need a soft light. You can always bounce them into a white card or beadboard, but it's hard to control the light spill. I always keep a few of them in my arsonel, but you need to have other lights as well.

Thanks for the advice, I am going to buy a couple of cans for the arsenal, but I really need some good cheap lights. Does anyone know where I can find some? Redheads would be nice but any equivelent would be helpful.
